We have a new & exciting opportunity to join the Healthy Child programme service in Luton & Bedfordshire as an Apprentice Nurse Associate. We offer a unique blend of hands-on experience & academic learning. The Nursing Associate Apprentice post is a developmental role which combines working within the Healthy Child Programme, with academic study with a partner University, and clinical placements.
Apprentices will be supported and provided with training to work within a team to support the assessment and review the clinical needs of children, young people, and families, to support the delivery of the Healthy Child Programme.
You will spend approximately 60% of your working week undertaking academic study or clinical placements. The remaining time will be spent in your workplace contributing to the delivery of the Healthy Child Programme under the supervision of a Registered Professional.
The clinical placements will be outside of your usual place of work where, with support, you will gain exposure to care across the patient’s lifespan in different care settings, in order to meet Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) requirements.
At the end of the education programme, you will be equipped with the knowledge, skills, and professional values required to deliver the Healthy Child Programme and meet Cambridgeshire Community Services (CCS) NHS Trust values, NMC requirements and the Nursing Associate (2018) Apprenticeship Standard.
Successful completion of the Nursing Associate Apprenticeship training programme leads to a Level 5 Foundation Degree (FdSc) and registration with the NMC as a Registered Nursing Associate and promotion to a Registered Nursing Associate post at CCS.

To attend all educational sessions as directed by the University, submitting assignments and reports promptly as requested.
To liaise closely with the Practice Assessor throughout the course and to agree learning objectives which will facilitate and support learning. To be honest about any learning needs and highlight any concerns with progress both with Practice Assessor and Academic tutor in line with University Student Handbook process.
Deliver high quality, compassionate care under the direction and supervision of a Registered Healthcare Professional
Work within the Nursing Associate Apprenticeship to achieve all objectives and competencies/proficiencies in the delivery of the appropriate Healthy Child Programme. This will be under the supervision of a Registered Healthcare Professional.
To develop an awareness and involvement in the delivery of the complete 0-19 Healthy Child Programme with support and guidance from the Practice Assessor and Practice Supervisor. For example: breastfeeding promotion, smoking cessation, obesity/healthy eating, oral health, speech and language, family health promotion activities, school readiness, developmental assessments and health and wellbeing needs assessments for school aged children.
Personal responsibility to identify and highlight any areas of concern regarding progress or development both clinical and theoretical before these become problematic.
To be able to identify own area of professional and personal development.
Maintain all aspects of patient/client confidentiality in line with Caldicott Principles
To arrange regular clinical supervision with Practice Assessor
To work as an independent practitioner when assessed as competent to deliver packages of care/mandated contacts
