Responsibilities:
Position Title/Job Function: Nutrition Associate
Position Objective: Provide administrative and program support to the Building Healthy Communities (BHC) team.
About the Nutrition Team: Over the past three decades, the Physicians Committee’s nutrition department has achieved many important successes. We have contributed to the elimination of the “meat group” in federal nutrition guidelines, carried out clinical research studies that have revolutionized the treatment of diabetes, and provided the scientific foundation for the health benefits of plant-based diets. We aim to propel continued progress through direct patient care, nutrition education, and advocacy.
About the Building Healthy Communities Program: The Building Healthy Communities program brings people together to ignite grassroots change and re-envision a healthy and inclusive society. Begun nearly a decade ago, Building Healthy Communities was fostered by the nonprofit PlantPure Communities after the award-winning documentary PlantPure Nation shared a call to action that sparked a grassroots movement. Now operating under the Physicians Committee, the Building Healthy Communities leaders are empowered to support healthy, plant-based diets by nurturing local connections, facilitating ongoing social support for their group members, and providing educational programming in their communities.
Essential Functions: Provide administrative and program support for the Building Healthy Communities program, including supporting leaders and members through phone and email correspondence, developing leader-support resources, organizing events and webinars, and recruiting new leaders globally.
Program Support and Development: Assist with the development and growth of the Building Healthy Communities program.
- Support leaders and members through phone and email correspondence.
- Develop new leader and member resources.
- Organize events and webinars, including monthly office hours and leader networking events.
- Support promotion and growth of the BHC program including recruiting new leaders globally.
- Use various online platforms, including Salesforce, Microsoft Teams, Outlook, and Zoom, to run programs and maintain files.
- Attend the Physicians Committee’s annual International Conference on Nutrition in Medicine to engage with leaders and facilitate networking opportunities.
- Lead the weekly BHC program strategy meetings.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None
Required Physical Abilities: Office work plus setting up information tables at conferences and other events, which includes the ability to lift 25 pounds.
Work Location: This is a full-time position that may be performed remotely from any location in the United States. Candidates in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area are preferred.
Required Travel: Approximately semi-annually
Work Schedule: This is a full-time exempt position (40+ hours per week). The Physicians Committee’s core business hours are 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, ET.
Position Level: Associate
Salary: Associate salaries start at $53,250 and have a median of $55,642. A salary offer will take into consideration education, experience, and skills along with internal and external reference points. Candidates are encouraged to discuss salary with the position’s hiring manager early in the interview process to ensure alignment.
