JOB SUMMARY

The Occupational Health and Safety Officer is responsible for implementing and maintaining health and safety programs to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards for a federal client. The Occupational Health and Safety Officer will join Chloeta’s Incident Management Support team.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Thorough understanding of occupational health and safety regulations and standards relevant to the industry.
  • Familiarity with safety management systems and their implementation.
  • Ability to conduct thorough accident investigations to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively convey health and safety information to employees and management.
  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate data and trends related to health and safety performance.
  • Ability to identify and solve health and safety issues quickly and effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities and tasks related to health and safety programs.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Required: Master’s degree in a life science, nursing, safety engineering, or occupational safety and health or public health related field or equivalent from an accredited college or university
  • Required: Three (3) years of related professional experience
  • Required: Extensive knowledge of disability related civil rights laws and regulations
  • Required: Experience in providing guidance on disability programmatic access
  • Required: Experience in Emergency Management with complete understanding of Command and General Staff, Housing, Human Services.
  • Required: Experience in program and data analysis as well as program planning and management
  • Preferred: Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Occupational Health and Safety Technician (OHST)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, etc.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS

Due to the nature of Chloeta’s services, this position is contingent upon completing with a satisfactory outcome some or all of the following pre-employment background screenings: government security clearance, federal and state criminal background checks, drug test (urinalysis), Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) review, educational history, employment history, and/or credit check. In accordance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), pre-employment background screenings will require the employee’s written authorization and will occur after acceptance of an offer of employment and prior to commencing work. Additionally, employees are required to complete the federal I-9/E-Verify process.

  • Ensures compliance with relevant health and safety regulations and standards.
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date records of health and safety activities.
  • Coordinates with management and employees to promote a culture of health and safety.
  • Monitors and reports on health and safety performance.
  • Stays up to date with developments in health and safety regulations and best practices
