Are you a Band 6 or post-preceptorship Band 5 occupational therapist looking for extended training and skill development opportunities towards Band 6? Are you returning to OT after a career break? If this is you and you’re motivated to work in mental health, then this may be the role for you!
We have an exciting band 5 to 6 development opportunity at the Department of Psychiatry in Eastbourne. This post provides excellent support and development opportunities for the right candidate to achieve Band 6 readiness and develop skills and knowledge in mental health. You’ll work to a competency framework to support development and will receive supervision and ongoing training opportunities to enable successful transition to Band 6. Professional support is provided by the Clinical Specialist OT through supervision and practice development.
You’ll work across our adult wards alongside our small, friendly therapy team with opportunities to work closely with multidisciplinary colleagues. Our patients are central to everything we do and it’s a privilege to provide compassion and care to patients and their loved ones, supporting them through their recovery journey.
You should possess effective time management skills to manage a caseload and work through the OT process. You will be expected to carry out specific occupational assessments and recovery-based interventions for individuals with a range of mental health needs and play a key role in contributing to safe and effective discharges.
To plan and provide a range of occupational assessments and interventions that will promote recovery and wellbeing for the people you support. This will include home assessments and group work, with regular support and supervision.
To manage a caseload of clients, using evidence based/ client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions. Assessments and group work with regular support and supervision.
To support the promotion of Occupational Therapy within the clinical area.
To plan and provide a range of occupational assessments and interventions that will promote recovery and wellbeing for the people you support. This will include home assessments and group work, with regular support and supervision.

  • To be a core member of the local clinical team, using mental health

and occupational therapy assessments.
