Description:

CNWL are offering an exciting opportunity to work within a hospital for Older Adults, based at 3 Beatrice Place, a short distance from High Street, Kensington.
3 Beatrice Place is currently developing a new model of care to meet the needs of older adults with complex dementia or mental health needs. The aim of the new proposed model is to provide a holistic, structured and person-centred approach to enhance a person’s overall well-being, function, and quality of life and to prepare and support them with the next steps in their treatment journey. The goal is to optimise independence, manage symptoms, and improve the individual’s ability to engage in daily activities.
Experience or skill in working with behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia and conducting postural and seating assessments is desired and a robust awareness of risk, good verbal and written communication skills is essential.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate Occupational Therapist who is committed to providing person centred care and evidence-based practice with an occupational focus . The role includes:

  • individual assessment of occupational function and intervention planning including seating, positioning and optimising mobility.
  • evaluation of programmes of care in individual and group settings
  • overseeing the group programme run by activity coordinators
  • provide advice or teaching to staff/colleagues
  • support relatives and/carers to enable understanding of residents needs
  • provide supervision and appraisal of junior staff and students
  • take responsibility for defined projects contributing to the development of the service
  • liaise with care homes and other organisations in the community

The successful applicant may have contact with patients or service users. As an NHS Trust we strongly encourage and support vaccination as this remains the best way to protect yourself, your family, your colleagues and of course patients and service users when working on our healthcare settings.
There are around 300 Occupational therapists in CNWL and we are fortunate in having a long, established professional structure which includes an AHP director, Trust wide Professional Head of OT, borough and specialist Head OTs. This ensures representation of our profession at all levels - both strategically and operationally.
Personal and professional development is a high priority for the profession and is underpinned by our OT Research and Development (R&D) strategy, R&D and OT clinical networks. This enables us to invest in the development of our staff by providing excellent internal training as well as commissioning specialised external training and providing quality supervision. This ensures all our OTs reach their full potential at every stage of their career. Our commitment to research, audit and evidence-based practice is made possible by our strong links with local universities.
The post holder will work as part of a passionate and supportive multidisciplinary team. They will work within the recovery framework encouraging independence, social integration and achievement of personalised recovery goals.
The ideal candidate would have a minimum of a 1 years’ post qualifying experience in mental health preferably with older adults.
