Description:

Would you like to join a robust programme to support you to develop the skills required to take on a Band 6 role within 18 months? Do you have a desire to gain experience in a community mental health setting and become a skilled and valued member of the MDT? If so we may have just the opening for you!
A new opportunity has arisen for two Band 5 occupational therapist roles within Luton Community Mental Health Teams, based at Charter House, Alma Street, Luton LU1 2PJ.
We have successfully established an effective Band 5 Development Programme which enables OT’s who are newly qualified or who have completed their preceptorship to work towards developing the skills required to practise as a Band 6 OT over the course of 18 months or less. Throughout your employment, you will be supported by an experienced Senior OT to develop a personalised CPD plan, with the aim of enabling you to develop the knowledge, skills and experience of a senior practitioner.
You should have some demonstrable experience of working within a mental health setting and with adults with mental health needs as well as an ability to independently carry an OT clinical caseload.
You will offer specialist occupational therapy interventions drawn from the Model of Human Occupation and have the opportunity to implement group-based programmes with other OT colleagues. The OT assessments and interventions will be recovery focused and client centred, supporting and enabling the person to achieve their goals in self-care, productivity and leisure. This is an exciting time to be part of community mental health services, with the ongoing programme of transformation under the 10-year plan for the NHS with a focus on working in partnership with local Voluntary, Charity and Social Enterprise (VCSE) organisations.
You will be part of a large OT service, where we place a high value on staff wellbeing and investment in teams to ensure a high quality service provision. A planned, supportive induction period will be developed to enable you to reach your full potential in your role. Regular managerial and professional supervision will be provided and you will have monthly opportunities to participate in the service’s OT CPD events and shape service development through quality improvement. Professional development and training are actively encouraged through the appraisal process.
Benefits of working for the Trust include the Employee Assistance Programme (EAP), Relocation packages and Wellbeing sessions.
Our mission is to make a positive difference to people’s lives by improving the quality of life for all we serve. Our values are: We Care, We Respect, We are Inclusive – so we are looking for people who live and breathe these qualities when supporting service users and carers, and in their relationships with colleagues in the Trust and our partner organisations.
