We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our friendly, supportive team at the highly specialist and well sought-after Blackheath Brain Injury Rehabilitation Unit in London.
Located in trendy South East London, 10 minutes-walk away from the pretty cafes and boutiques of Greenwich, the unit has a 19-bed Level 1 Highly Specialist Cognitive-Behavioural ward and a Level 2 Neurorehabilitation ward with 18 beds. Both wards provide specialist treatment to patients with physical and cognitive impairments resulting from an acquired / traumatic brain injury.
This role offers an opportunity to work as part of an experienced and skilled Occupational Therapy team, supporting and empowering patients on their rehabilitation journey to maximise recovery and regain their independence.

Responsibilities:

  • Keep people safe from harm and protect their human rights
  • Collaborate with the Occupational Therapy team to develop individualised rehabilitation plans based on patients goals and functional abilities
  • Implementing therapeutic activities to improve patients motor skills, co-ordination, balance, and strength
  • Work with patients across the hospital to enable them to develop their domestic, self-care, social work or leisure skills under the guidance and supervision of a qualified Occupational Therapist
  • Monitoring patients’ progress and adjusting treatment plans as necessary to ensure optimal rehabilitation outcomes
  • Provide emotional support and encouragement to patients during their rehabilitation journey
  • Educating patients and their families about strategies for maximising independence and managing challenges related to their condition
  • Participate in staff training and development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge
