Description:

Summary:
Performs all activities of the tax billing and collection function in the collection, recording, reporting, custody and turn-over of all tax monies within the county. Performs all activities of the Business Personal Property functions or program. This position assists the public and directs public inquiry to the appropriate person within the office when needed.
Essential Functions (in a typical work week):
Process payments (manual and electronic), receives cash and issue receipts.
Opens mail and answers incoming calls for the main tax and assessment phone lines.
Assists the public by providing information about property values, location and taxes.
Cross trains to perform duties in the assessment, tax and appraisal sections as directed by their supervisor.
Conducts correspondence with the public, provides tax related information and reports as necessary.
Assists with preparation and mails bills for tax and past due accounts.
Responsible for data entry, business account maintenance and field valuation of Business Personal Property accounts.
Assists with field work for the Manufactured home seizure process.
Maintains advanced computer skills necessary to perform complex tasks using a personal computer with required office software.
Maintains an in depth knowledge of Assessor’s mainframe database software and operation.
Cross trains to perform duties in the assessment and appraisal sections as directed by your supervisor.
Maintain the ability to work independently at the Tax Counter to be a strong backup.
While the daily closing process will remain the duties of the Office Technician, you will learn the daily closing process and maintain this knowledge to be a strong back up for the tax counter.
Performs routine clerical functions such as typing, word processing, filing, file searches, database inquiry and maintenance.
Invoice, collect and receipt non-tax fees.

Secondary Functions (in a typical work week):
Data gathering/appraisal assistant; assist appraisers in researching, compiling and gathering data.
May assist with on-site inspections, gathering data, drawing diagrams and taking photos.
Assist in data entry, processing and filing.
Assists with the Foreclosure and Seizure process, as directed by your supervisor.
Assists with Wasco County owned lands and sales.
Responsibility/Accountability:

Education, Experience, and Certification/Licensure:
