Description:

Are you a Dietitian keen to specialise in the rewarding clinical speciality of Oncology? We are seeking a second dietitian with some post registration experience to join us, b ased in the Royal Gwent Hospital, and providing in-reach to inpatient care in the Grange University Hospital. This post is advertised as a band 6 but will be offered as a development opportunity utilising annex 21 (75%) for the first year, if the successful candidate is working towards elements in the person specification outlined as essential. It would therefore suit Dietitians early in their career but with some post registration experience, who are ready to specialise but requiring some development to step into the additional duties of a band 6 post holder. Learning opportunities to attain band 6 will be supported and include an advanced clinical educators module at postgraduate diploma level and BDA study days in oncology and enteral / parenteral nutrition.
This post will afford the opportunity to work within a supportive multidisciplinary team alongside specialist nurses, surgeons, oncologists and other therapists. Working in both the inpatient and outpatient ABUHB settings, with the clinical guidance of our lead dietitians, you will provide the dietetic care to patients accessing treatment for a range of cancer diagnoses including upper and lower GI and Head and Neck Cancer.
You will work collaboratively with colleagues based in the Velindre Cancer Centre and those working for leading cancer charities. There will be opportunity to access cross therapy training opportunities implemented by our AHP lead for Oncology, to support your development. Some e xisting experi ence in this clinical area or managing the care of patients receiving enteral tube feeding would be an advantage.
The post holder should have already attained a sound knowledge and understanding of general dietetics within the NHS.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
