Description:

Reception staff are responsible for managing the reception areas within Preston & Chorley Hospitals. Meeting and greeting the patients, visitors and staff members attending the Rosemere Cancer Centre.
This can be a challenging role at times which is why it is essential that you have excellent communication skills as you will be dealing with the members of the public, patients & visitors attending the unit & you will be in regular contact with other staff members within the trust.
You must be able to prioritise the daily workload, work under pressure and have good keyboard skills.
You will be able to understand the reasons or purpose of the daily tasks and be able to gain the knowledge required to understand the different systems the trust uses. Have an understanding of the reasons the patients are attending the Oncology Department.
Managing the booking of patients transport, admitting & discharging patients on the systems and rebooking of their follow up appointments.
You will possess excellent communication, organisational and administrative skills, attention to detail being a key characteristic.
Duties include associated clerical tasks to maintain an efficient service, the accurate registration of patients, using an electronic Patient Record System, ensuring information is accurate, up to date and meets the Trust Standards, maintaining the need for confidential and integrity at all times.
You will be required to deal with face to face, telephone & email enquiries, take messages and direct where appropriate. Have an understanding of how to prioritise the enquires.
You will ensure that standards of service are maintained, have a strongly held commitment to high standards of service delivery.
Respond to requests for information promptly and efficiently using a variety of communication methods. Maintaining patient confidentiality at all times whilst ensuring that Trust Customer Service standards are adhered to. Maintaining accurate and confidential records, having regard for the Data Protection Act.

To provide a professional and courteous “front of house” service for all staff and visitors utilising the facilities provided within Royal Preston Hospital / Chorley Hospital, acting in a professional and courteous manner at
all times. Respond to requests for information promptly and efficiently using a variety of communication methods, ensuring that Trust Customer Service standards are adhered to.
Ensure information is accurate and meets Trust Standards regarding delivering information. The wide variety of activities being undertaken by the Trust, mean that responsibilities have to be shared with other members of staff/immediate co-workers. Team working and collaboration are vital, as is a flexible approach to both working duties and hours worked
