Our Humber region is comprised for 4 ports in Hull, Goole, Grimsby and Immingham. Each port is unique in it’s make up and the benefit it brings to the UK, and therefore offers their own engineering approach - whether the largest UK port by tonnage in Immingham to the one of the great historical ports of the UK in Grimsby. We’re currently looking to recruit an experienced Operational Engineering Manager with a Heavy Industry maintenance background to lead our maintenance team on critical assets across our 4 ports in the Humber region including a wide range of cranes and heavy plant machinery. You’ll need to show a high level of resilience and adaptability, and should have a strong working knowledge of UK Regulations and Statutory requirements.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Ensure engineering maintenance activities are managed and undertaken in a safe, timely and cost-effective manner, in accordance with best engineering practice
  • Responsible for the day-to-day activities of the Humber Maintenance Department, ensuring consistency and compliance throughout the region, ensuring engineering works are carried out in accordance with company policies and procedures, health and safety legislation, to best practice and in a timely and cost-effective manner monitoring and managing the budget and proactively assessing the performance of the department.
  • Oversee and update maintenance plans and activities to include resource and financial constraints.
  • Establish asset operating and maintenance standards and procedures for all cranes and conveyor systems.
  • Ensure Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work, are periodically reviewed, updated and or revised as necessary due to changes in working methods and or the introduction of new regulations ensuring the Engineering Maintenance Team issue the same to the staff and that the staff work in accordance with the same.
  • Identify and prepare cost estimates for both present and future Operational engineering works for contribution toward both the maintenance and non-revenue engineering budgets, delivering where required and assisting with the input towards forward planning within the department.
  • Monitor plant and equipment availability and liaise with the respective internal departments, external contractors and customers in order to ensure the efficient running of the region whilst maintaining good working relations.
  • Be prepared to tackle engineering problems, using new or existing technologies, through innovation and change.
  • Show technical and commercial leadership.
  • Uphold the highest standards of professional conduct including openness, fairness honesty & integrity.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Engineering qualification (to a minimum of ONC/HNC or equivalent) and experience associated with a shipping ports experience
  • Experience of working with in the heavy industry with maintenance focused experience ideally covering large scale crane systems and Operational transportation systems.
  • Excellent communication skills

  • CMMS experience (Ideally Mainsaver)
