ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
Relevant post graduate qualifications or equivalent work experience or a combination of study and experience deemed appropriate by SWSLHD.

Selection Criteria

  • Demonstrated senior nursing experience with experience in leading staff and managing services in a relevant setting.
  • Proven ability to ensure the human, physical and financial resources of the service/facility are managed to provide safe, compassionate, quality care that is culturally responsive
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and engage with patients/consumers, carers and the multidisciplinary health care team and to represent the nursing service inside and outside the organisation.
  • Demonstrated capacity to interact with others in a personable and professional manner and manage conflicts and performance issues when they arise
  • Demonstrated evidence of the use of critical thinking to set goals, formulate strategic plans and policies to achieve identified outcomes for the service and organisation
  • Demonstrated understanding and participation in the implementation of organisational change, risk management, work health and safety and quality improvement in the workplace.

Responsibilities:

  • The Operational Nurse Manager (ONM) - Medicine participates in or is responsible for the leadership and management of nursing services in a management unit, service, complex function or facility to ensure the delivery of high quality patient care and efficient use of resources.
