Description:

OPERATIONAL TECHNOLOGY (OT) ENGINEER

Reporting to the Manager Operational Technology, the successful applicant will be responsible for the design of operational technology equipment, improving communication reliability, introducing and maintaining standards for OT Asset Management, by defining and analysing criteria to identify asset end of life, retaining asset health, implementing replacement programs, recommending upgrades in software/hardware, and tracking available support. The OT Engineer will be responsible for collecting, analysing, and assessing SCADA/ADMS data, reporting on capacity, availability, and reliability. The OT Engineer will work collaboratively with the System Planning Engineer to assess system enhancements with OT considerations by initiating or performing engineering studies within the OT network. This position will interpret and triage OT network data for protection settings, ensure safety of the system, public, and workers by inputting prescribed settings, verifying, and continuing to ensure their coordination is acting as expected between devices on the ENWIN system and Hydro One’s supply stations.

THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

  • University degree in Electrical Engineering with Professional Engineering designation or working toward obtaining P. Eng (EIT status).
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a utility environment (including protection and control experience).
  • Master’s degree in electrical engineering with a concentration in Power Systems, Electrical Machines or Protection and Controls considered an asset.
  • Thorough knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs, RTUs, RTACs), Digital and Analog relaying, secure data network infrastructure, including switches and routers.
  • Detailed knowledge of communications infrastructure including fibre, cellular, 900MHz radio, Wi-Max, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, VPN devices, and associated operating systems and software.
  • Thorough knowledge of generator connections and impact on grid operations.
  • Ability to review and interpret electrical circuit diagrams (including complex control diagrams, single-line diagrams, etc.).
  • Ability to take conceptual ideas and relate them to the overall ADMS system and an ability to articulate complex and detailed concepts.
  • Ability to quickly analyse, troubleshoot, and solve problems both individually and in a team environment.
  • Class ‘G’ driver’s licence.
    Salary Range for Qualified Candidates: $103,795 - $115,328
