Description:
The operations analyst supports the U.S. Marine Corps Forces Europe and Africa (MARFOREUR/AF) headquarters staff and provides functional expertise in the review, refinement, coordination, development, and publication of operations orders related to the manning, organization, deployment, mission assurance, employment, support, sustainment, and redeployment of Marine forces in support of crisis response and contingency operations and/or coordinates military-to-military and security cooperation exercises, activities, and events.
Duties:
- Provides the headquarters staff with subject matter expertise related to one or more of the following functional areas: ground operations, aviation operations, operational fires, amphibious operations, pre-positioning operations, noncombatant evacuation (NEO) operations, communications, communications strategy and public affairs, force protection, logistics, intelligence, manning, preventive medicine, RSOI (reception, staging, onward movement, and integration), strategic mobility, training, JOPES (joint operational planning and execution system), and military planning and the decision-making process.
- Reviews, refines, coordinates, and develops military operations orders related to the manning, organization, deployment, mission assurance, employment, support, sustainment, and redeployment of Marine forces in support of crisis response and contingency operations.
- Plans and coordinates military-to-military activities.
- Plans and coordinates security cooperation events.
- Plans and coordinates multi- and bi-lateral service component (Title 10) exercises.
- Manages the MARFOREUR/AF Training, Exercises, and Employment Plan (TEEP).
- Manages MARFOREUR/AF battle rhythm events.
- Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of directly related military experience; OR 15 years of directly related military experience
- U.S. Citizenship, a valid U.S. Driver’s License, and a valid U.S. tourist passport
- U.S. Secret or higher-level clearance
- Must be able and willing to travel anywhere in the USEUCOM and USAFRICOM Areas of Responsibility
- Must be able and willing to travel frequently (a home to away ratio of 3:1 is typical for our organization, but not guaranteed as either a minimum or maximum)
- Must be able to work extended hours in support of exercise requirements
- Must be an effective communicator both verbally and in writing, and able to brief senior military leaders
- Must be proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office suite of programs including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and SharePoint
