Division: Inland Empire Ronald McDonald House
Reports To: Operations Manager, Facilities
FLSA Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt
Salary Range: $20 - $23/hr.

SUMMARY:

Our mission at the Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Southern California (RMHCSC) is to provide comfort, care, and support to children and families in Southern California. To achieve our vision of creating a community where children and their families embrace life and healing with a sense of hope, enthusiasm, and joy. RMHCSC operates seven Ronald McDonald Houses and three Ronald McDonald Family Rooms, along with Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times.
The Operations Associate, Facilities works under the supervision of the Facilities Manager to maintain the facility upkeep of the Inland Empire Ronald McDonald House (IERMH) building. This position is a member of the Operations Team and works closely with Housekeeping and Guest Services. The position will perform routine maintenance and preventative maintenance and repairs on buildings, building fixtures, mechanical equipment, and utility systems. This position is part of a team that works 24/7, year-round to provide high-quality customer service and care for guests staying at or using the IERMH.
The IERMH is in Loma Linda, near several neighboring hospitals. Our mission is to provide comfort, care and support to children and families in Southern California. EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

A High School Diploma or GED and experience in general repair maintenance and/or janitorial services.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret information in English. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, board members, families, and the public; ability to present facts and recommendations effectively in oral and written form.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/ or ability required.
Strong communication, presentation, and organizational skills are necessary. Must demonstrate strong customer service skills and have a solution-focused attitude.
Language Skills: Bilingual in English/Spanish a plus

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to interpret miscellaneous drawings and schematics.

Responsibilities:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Perform minor repairs and routine maintenance of all buildings and equipment, ensuring the assigned daily work list is completed each shift.
  • Replace broken windows, repair doors, and door locks, install window blinds and valances, basic plumbing, maintenance/repairs to washers, dryers, and dishwashers, and maintenance/repairs in all interior rooms of the IERMH building.
  • As deemed safe to do, install minor electrical wiring and equipment, wiring during remodeling projects, and replace and repair wiring as needed. Minor repairs to electrical equipment and control circuits, replace faulty electrical switches and perform minor repairs on refrigeration equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on building mechanical equipment as scheduled. Work can include the following: inspecting belts, checking fluid levels, replacing filters, grease or oil friction contact points, etc.
  • Perform maintenance and inspections on AC units, fire alarms, water flow, fire sprinklers, landscape sprinklers, elevators, fire extinguishers, etc.
  • Repair plaster and drywall and maintain painting of building structures.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emergency procedures and security protocols.
  • Uphold Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern California (RMHCSC) standards of safe guest accommodations and working conditions.
  • Monitor property perimeter to ensure doors are closed, entrances are accessible, and walkways are clear.
  • Use and store all chemicals correctly and in compliance with OSHA.
  • Maintain SDS documents for all cleaning and maintenance chemicals.
  • Perform janitorial/housekeeping services and projects assigned by Facilities Manager.
  • Load out and drive donations, event support, and all other support requirements.
  • Show the ability to work with other staff, volunteers, and house guests jointly and compassionately.
  • Act as a brand steward, upholding Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Global brand standards and consistency in all projects.
  • This position will require a modified shift for after 4:30 p.m. meetings and event support including several weekends yearly.
  • Other duties as assigned.
