Hexagon Purus Systems Canada Ltd. is currently seeking an Operations Excellence Engineer to work out of our Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada manufacturing facility. If you are looking to work for an organization that values sustainability, then we are the place for you.
As an Operations Excellence Engineer, you are responsible for identifying, analyzing, designing, and implementing continuous improvement projects within the organization. This role focuses on optimizing processes, reducing waste, cost savings, and ensuring that operational practices align with the organization’s strategic goals. This role is also responsible for managing organizational engineering changes. This includes the implementation, approval, and release of engineering and documentation changes following standard operating procedures. The ideal candidate is proactive in project execution, enjoys a collaborative and often hands-on problem solving, has a strong desire to learn, and the ability to implement and manage improvements across various functions.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement process improvement or cost saving strategies using Lean, Six Sigma, Agile Manufacturing, and other methodologies.
- Monitor and track the performance of improvement initiatives, providing regular reports to senior management.
- Review, approve, monitor, and release engineering changes from initial concept to production implementation.
- Monitor and prioritize open change requests and engineering change tasks, to ensure they are being executed to schedule.
- Communicate and coordinate engineering changes to operations stakeholders prior to design, and at design/drawing release.
- Create and maintain data analysis reports in Microsoft Excel or Power BI.
- Create and define KPI’s for CM process performance working with engineering team.
- On-site production support using defined engineering deviation processes to ensure mBOM accuracy.
- Represent Hexagon Purus in a professional manner, in keeping with its standards of conduct.
- Ability to work effectively and independently in a fast-paced and demanding environment with a strong sense of urgency.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, operations management, or related field.
- Lean methodology/tools such as mistake-proofing (poke-yoke), value stream mapping & design (VSM & VSD), Kaizen, Six Sigma, Red X training (lean methodologies), RT5 (rolling top five).
- Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities for improvement, assess the required costs and resources, and independently execute the necessary tasks to achieve those improvements.
- Proven track record of successfully implementing projects from conception to production implementation.
- Strong background in statistical and data analysis.
- Collaborate with cross functional teams including engineering, production, quality assurance and procurement to implement process improvement.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures.
- Provide training and support on new processes, tools, or methodologies.
- Proficiency in CAD (Ideally Creo Parametric) for engineering design changes.
- Evaluate and recommend technological solutions, automation tools and software solutions.
- Demonstrate strong analytical, problem-solving, coordination and leadership abilities.
- Able to organize multiple projects and self-determine priority of tasks.
- Ability to adhere to written operating procedures.
- Proficiency with standard office software.
- Effective communication and presentation ability.
- Proficiency with ERP systems and change management processes is preferred.
- Able to work in the United States when the need arises at our US facilities.

In accordance with the Pay Transparency Act of British Columbia, we anticipate this position will pay a salary range of approximately $65,000 - $75,000/yr. The compensation posted is a guide and may not represent the final amount offered to a candidate. Compensation will be based on candidate skills, qualifications, and overall experience level.
Compensation at Hexagon Purus includes base salary, comprehensive benefits package, variable annual bonus, and 6% RRSP match.
