NBMLHD Community Mental Health offer a range of specialised services for children, young people, families and older people, through our community-based services and health centres. Our multidisciplinary health professionals and case managers take a collaborative approach to mental health care by linking with their patients to work together and consult within an environment appropriate to the person’s needs.
Child, Youth and Family Mental Health (CYF-MH) provides services to children, young people, and their families in the Nepean and Blue Mountains community where mental health issues are seriously impacting on their emotional wellbeing, relationships, and day to day functioning. The service offers mental health assessment, psychoeducation, clinical support and specialist treatment services. It is committed to working collaboratively with families and the systems around them to provide person-centred, trauma-informed and recovery orientated care. CYF-MH is expanding to include a Mental Health Inpatient Unit for adolescents aged 12 -17-years, at Nepean Hospital (currently under construction), as well as a planned Head to Health -Kids Hub for children under 12 years of age.

The Operations Manager, together with the CYF-MH Service Manager and CYF-MH Medical Lead, has delegated responsibility to ensure safe, effective and collaborative service delivery for the children, young people and families in NBMLHD. The CYF-MH stream uses dialogical approaches and systemic practice to clinical care and this approach also informs service management. CYF-MH Operations Manager, in partnership with the CYF-MH Executive team, will facilitate the service operation in the following key performance areas:

Responsibilities:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in health-related discipline and/or equivalent senior leadership or management experience within community child and youth mental health.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing a multidisciplinary clinical team, with strong skills in both people management and operational management.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary issues within the NSW and National health care agenda, including a knowledge of issues relevant to child, youth and family mental health and in the development of Mental Health services.
  • Sound understanding of quality, risk, governance and regulatory systems and processes related to health care delivery
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the legislative requirements that govern Mental Health service provision, including the NSW Mental Health Act (2007) and an understanding of current State and National Mental Health policies, and their potential impact on service provision in the public sector.
  • Experience in organisational re-design and change management, with proven ability to drive operational and service reform and positive workplace culture.
  • Well-developed analytical, conceptual, problem solving and strategic capabilities with exceptional planning and organisational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including substantial experience in leading high-level negotiations and writing complex reports, business cases and briefings.
