Our client has a talented culturally diverse workforce.They are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to join their team in Port Melbourne .

To be successful you applicant must be successful with building client relationships and nurturing partnerships opportunities for improvement and efficiencies and ensure all activities are performed safely across all operations.
Displaying strong leadership skills, business intelligence and a hands-on approach.
Qualifications and Attributes

Minimum 5 years proven Management experience in a Operations Management role

  • Strong focus on safety and compliance.
  • Ability to build and maintain high level client, site and stakeholder relationships.
  • Skills and experience in people leadership and the expertise to develop a positive culture and motivate a team.
  • Experience managing a compliant, demanding, site and / or distribution center.
  • Experience in consistently delivering results, and exceeding service and budget targets.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and SAP.About the role.This position will be Oversee and ensure the efficient and cost effective operation of the depot, and movement of freight inter, intra state and local and delivery of interstate freight within the state. The role will directly report to the State Manager .

The successful applicant will identify opportunities for improvement and efficiencies and ensure all activities are performed safely across operations, customer service experience with the ability to engage and liaise at multiple levels.

Role will include

  • Organise the planning, leading and control of all production and yard operational service effectively in order to meet requirements
  • Perform monthly P&L reporting, investigate, and articulate the variance
  • Provide day to day support, mentoring and leading including development of team members
  • Promote a continuous improvement service culture within the branch and implement quality principles
  • Control the total labour force except for the office staff by working with the various supervisors
  • Control the hiring of casual labour to match the level of activity
  • Control the work of any sub-contractors working on site
  • Ensure Quality System and total quality management is implemented and understood for all aspects of service, workmanship, procedures, work instructions and conformance to company standards
  • Ensure the timely processing of vehicles and liaise with clients and client liaison officers to assure this
  • Review all measuring equipment calibration records and arrange for re-testing/calibration as requiredSupervise the operation of the parts store to ensure adequate stock levels and quarantine of defective parts
