The Opportunity

As part of its ongoing expansion, they are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to join their team as the Operations Manager, based in Bolivar, SA in a full time permanent position. Overseeing the coordination and execution of livebird transport and catching operations across VIC, TAS, NSW & SA, this pivotal role entails ensuring rigorous adherence to safety, hygiene, and animal welfare standards. It also involves cultivating positive relationships with stakeholders and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure safety, hygiene, and security standards during bird catching
  • Follow company, customer biosecurity, and RSPCA regulations
  • Ensure compliance with animal welfare laws and policies
  • Supervise staff training to meet requirements
  • Manage contracts, program delivery, and procurement to industry standards
  • Facilitate contract deliverables review and acceptance
  • Monitor and report on customer and service provider performance
  • Build relationships with key customers and service providers to improve collaboration
  • Oversee cost recovery to maintain financial stability
  • Develop safe and efficient transport systems
  • Offer strategic advice and support for procurement and transformation initiatives
  • Promote innovation and collaboration to achieve business goals
  • Apply a systems-thinking approach to solve challenges and seize opportunities
  • Demonstrate adaptive and inclusive leadership for a high-performance culture and sustainable organisational benefits

Selection Criteria

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent practical experience required
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in the transportation or related industry, demonstrating leadership and achieving measurable results
  • Proven leadership skills, including effective team management and results-driven leadership
  • Proficient in contract management, procurement, and strategic planning
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders across all levels of the organisation
  • Comprehensive understanding of safety, hygiene, and animal welfare regulations
  • Current and valid car driver’s licence required
