Located in the western suburbs of Melbourne, this Australian-owned steel manufacturer is growing and expanding rapidly and is looking for an experienced Operations Manager to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis. Manufacturing steel products both globally and locally, they have built a reputation as a quality supplier of components with exceptional customer service providing new product design, R&D prototyping and development tooling, component manufacture and manufacturing consultation.
Manufacturing steel building products, structural accessories, shed construction components and gutter brackets, this manufacturing business is growing in annual revenue and is moving to a new site in Truganina where it will be doubling its workforce within the next year.
Responsibilities:
YOUR NEW ROLE
In your new role, you will act as a source of leadership and motivation to a team of production workers and engineers, overseeing warehouse operations and supervising your team on a daily basis. You will be responsible for supervising and controlling all production elements to ensure maximum productivity.
- Acting as a point of leadership and motivation to your team; ensuring all tasks are completed to the highest standards
- Formulating strategy, improving performance, procuring equipment and resources and ensuring compliance
- Planning and overseeing operational change
- Reviewing budgets and managing costs
- Planning key processes and ensuring KPI’s and targets are met and exceeded
- Overseeing and planning production processes to improve quality, productivity and performance

To succeed in this role, you must have a strong background in steel manufacturing. This is an absolute essential in this role.
- Qualification/degree in Mechanical, Electrical or similar engineering
- At least 3 years experience in a senior leadership position within a manufacturing environment
- A strong background in steel manufacturing - hands-on experience as well as leadership experience
- A can-do attitude with exceptional communication and people management skill
