Qualifications:

  • Advanced Degree (preferably Ph.D.) in Operations Research or a related field such as Industrial Engineering, Applied Math, Computational Physics, or Computer Science
  • Industrial experience post-academia (3+ years is preferred), applying Operations Research and/or Data Science methodologies preferably in the logistics space
  • Strong programming experience in production environments using Python and SQL
  • Experience in machine learning algorithms, statistical modeling, and data analysis is valuable. Industrial experience in building data products, using machine learning frameworks and libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn) is a plus
  • Experience with common engineering areas and architectural components around OR methodologies; for instance, relational DB’s, cloud-computing environments, ETL and reporting/BI tools, etc.
  • Comfortable with modern solver libraries such as Gurobi
  • Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of optimization techniques
  • Solid understanding of network optimization methods (e.g. network flow, graph algorithms) is desirable
  • Experience with heuristic and metaheuristic methods for solving combinatorial optimization problem

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to existing OR algorithms, engines, and services, in the form of codebase maintenance, feature development, and algorithmic innovations
  • Master existing business models and algorithmic toolsets; contribute to or lead the innovation of next-gen models and algorithms utilizing various techniques in the field of Operations Research, AI/ML, statistics, and/or simulation
  • Stay up to date on cutting-edge technical developments and the state-of-the-art in the domain while balancing support of existing technology with new analytical ideas and solutions
  • Effectively communicate technical subject matters to various stakeholders with varying and diverse degrees of technical proficiency
  • Collaborate with engineering, product, operations, and business teams to understand data science needs and to help prioritize and deliver on technology roadmap
