Description:

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety Management, Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Safety Management within an operational environment.
  • Experience in Safety within Aviation, Warehousing, Transportation or Logistics environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of Safety Regulations, Standards and Industry best practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.

Responsibilities:

OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

As the Operations Safety Manager, your primary objective is to provide leadership and safety expertise to our operation ensuring the allocation of safety resources and effectiveness of safety activities.
You will oversee Safety Business Partners establish and enhance operational safety programs and collaborate with operational teams to maintain alignment with industry standards. Your role will be pivotal in driving safety initiatives, managing preventive maintenance programs and fostering a positive safety culture across all business streams.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Directly manage and oversee Safety Business Partners providing guidance and support in safety-related matters.
  • Establish and continuously improve the operational safety program for all dnata Australia operations including Ground Handling, Cargo and Cabin Services Australia.
  • Ensure alignment with industry-wide and dnata corporate operational standards and practices.
  • Develop robust risk management frameworks in collaboration with operational teams, allocating safety resources appropriately to support these frameworks’ effectiveness.
  • Provide expertise in the development and implementation of effective emergency response plans tailored to our operations, overseeing regular tests of these plans.
  • Collaborate with leaders to establish preventive maintenance programs for equipment safety and reliability improvement.
  • Lead and participate in operational projects including new business ventures, customer engagements and work locations as required.
  • Drive operational and safety improvement initiatives based on data insights, industry trends or corporate directives.
  • Develop working networks with operational leaders across cargo, ground handling and Cabin Services Australia business streams.
  • Manage and develop safety programs, promotions and initiatives aimed at enhancing safety awareness and adherence.
  • Participate in and undertake audits and investigations as required.
