Description:

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND BEHAVIOURS REQUIRED:

  • 5 years minimum experience of managing a team of 80 – 100 warehouse colleagues preferably in a 3PL Retail environment or in-house retail environment.
  • Significant experience of warehouse management systems
  • A thorough understanding of inventory control and stock movements
  • Understanding of lean methodology
  • Resource planning
  • Strong written, verbal communication skills & numerate
  • Promoting a culture of Safety and continuous Improvement
  • PC Literate in Microsoft software
  • Flexibility with working patterns
  • Strong people management skills with the ability to resolve issues informally and coach and develop both managers and colleagues.

Responsibilities:

Operations Team Managers drive, manage, and support the operational team to ensure that all KPIs in relation to safety, efficiency and cost are met. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the role key accountabilities are:

  • The management of a variety of Distribution Centre functions including Goods Inwards, Put-away, Picking, Replenishment, and Dispatch
  • Effective leadership of First Line Managers, Team Leaders, and Warehouse Colleagues
  • Motivating staff and driving a culture of health and safety and continuous improvement
  • Ensuring that all tasks are undertaken safely and are completed to schedule by appropriately trained colleagues.
  • Management of stock movements using the NAVISION (WMS) system
  • Reporting as directed on the performance of the various teams within the shift, focusing on meeting agreed targets and goals and taking appropriate corrective action(s)
  • Certify the accurate and punctual recording and presentation of key cost drivers to meet budgeted expectations.
  • To strive to meet if not exceed the budgeted KPI’s with awareness of the financial implications of decision making
  • To be a sounding board for new ideas and encourage both managers and colleagues to identify new ways of working
  • To maintain and improve colleague engagement resolving issues in a timely manner and ensuring regular and effective feedback to colleagues at all levels
  • Owning and driving effective performance management to support the delivery of site KPIs
  • Ensuring that policies and procedures are followed including health and safety, absence and performance management
