    Are you ready to join New Zealand’s healthcare system as an Ophthalmologist Consultant? If you have a passion for providing specialist secondary care services and are eager to be part of a diverse, dynamic, and collegial team environment, then this opportunity is for you.
    In this full-time, permanent position, you will have the chance to showcase your comprehensive ophthalmology skills. Additionally, your role will involve supervising registrars, teaching University of Otago Medical School Trainee Interns, and contributing to local and sub-regional ophthalmic service provision. As part of the wider eye service, your expertise will play a pivotal role in providing specialist outpatient and inpatient ophthalmology services, supported by advanced technology.
    In return for your commitment and expertise, we are pleased to offer you six weeks of annual leave, 10 days per annum for continued medical education, generous relocation packages for both national and international candidates, and a fantastic opportunity to enjoy a work-life balance in the idyllic Manawutu Region, surrounded by beautiful scenery and leisure activities. The annual salary is determined by the ASMS negotiated agreement and for a basic 40 hour week falls in the range of NZD$ 190000-270000 pa plus additional on call allowances.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • FRANZCO or equivalent specialist ophthalmology qualification
  • Eligible for vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand
  • Proven experience in comprehensive ophthalmology
  • Demonstrated clinical, management, and teaching skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Eligibility for vocational registration in Ophthalmology with the Medical Council of New Zealand
