Description:
About the role
To provide clinical care under supervision (both direct and indirect) and acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to satisfy relevant specialist college and medical board requirements needed to practice as a specialist. This position will cover public OPD and OT, assisting with the increasing demand for ophthalmic care within the catchment area for the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. This role will also be responsible for carrying out audits required for the Department.

- To develop clinical efficiency, through patient management and pathways.
- Improve autonomous operating ability.
- To be involved in educational and supervisory services to the junior ophthalmology registrars, residents as well as medical students.
- Maintain the process of clinical cataract audit.
- Participate in the Ophthalmology Outpatient clinics at RBWH and associated hospitals/facilities to help manage new and review OPD patients, including post-ops.
- Undertake independent surgery as required.
- Assist in the training of the Ophthalmology Registrars.
