Description:

Randstad Data are currently working with one of Queensland’s largest State Government Departments to find a fantastic Database Administrator specialising in both Oracle and SQL Server to join their team for an initial 4 month contract, with a 12-month extension highly likely. This role will be part of a team dedicated to maintaining and optimising the department’s critical database infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, patch, upgrade, and monitor both on-premise and cloud-based Oracle and SQL Server databases, including related third-party software.
  • Provide expertise in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Exadata services such as Oracle Data Guard, RAC, and TDE.
  • Administer AWS RDS database services, particularly PostgreSQL.
  • Automate processes and scripting in Linux/Windows environments, utilising PL SQL/TSQL.
  • Investigate and resolve incidents, including performance and security issues.
  • Perform database data extracts, reorganisations, refreshes, backups, and restores.
  • Utilise management tools such as Cloud Control, TOAD, SQL Developer, SSMS, SSRS, SSIS, and SSAS.
  • Maintain comprehensive operational documentation for database environments.
  • Offer third-level support and act as an escalation point for database environment issues.
  • Coordinate and manage service requests with Oracle and Microsoft support services.
  • Assist in designing and implementing enterprise database monitoring, high availability, and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Contribute to the development of policies and procedures within the database environments.

Necessary Skills:

  • Proven experience in Oracle and SQL Server database administration.
  • Familiarity with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Exadata services and AWS RDS.
  • Proficiency in scripting on Linux/Windows environments, PL SQL, and TSQL.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for performance and security issues.
  • Experience with database management tools such as Cloud Control, TOAD, SQL Developer, SSMS, SSRS, SSIS, and SSAS.
  • Ability to maintain operational documentation and provide third-level support.
