Description:
JOB SUMMARY
Do you enjoy working with farmers, traveling throughout the western provinces, and learning new skills. Ecocert Canada is looking for a dynamic and friendly individual interested in organic production, the environment and sustainable agriculture. As an Organic inspector you will contact new and existing Ecocert clients, schedule audits, then visit the farm or business and complete the audit report.
As an Organic Inspector you will work independently from your home office and on the road. This job requires lots of travel, decent computer skills and the ability to work on your own. Inspectors report directly to the Division Manager who will provide training and support. As well the Ecocert west office and other inspectors located in western Canada are available.
Job Responsibilities
- Learn and understand the appropriate organic certification standards.
- Review existing and new client files.
- Contact clients to schedule inspection appointments.
- Perform inspections according to the Canadian organic regulations.
- File an accurate inspection report for each client.
- Clarify missing information with clients.
- Liaise with other departments to clarify information on reports.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Educational background: Agricultural students in 2nd, 3rd or final year of study.
- Years of experience: minimum 2 years of experience in wine grape, stone fruit or field vegetable production.
- Detail-oriented with a good sense of observation and customer service skills.
- Excellent Time-management skills must be able to work independently and be a quick learner.
- Comfortable learning new computer software, familiarity with Office.
- Travel required, valid driver’s licence required, access to a vehicle required.
- Salary: starting from $22 / hour.
- All expenses related to job are paid (travelling, lodging, meals, office furniture allocation) and a computer will be provided.
