Description:
Key Responsibilities To establish, along with a consultant orthogeriatrician, a full time Ortho-Geriatric service at The Cumberland Infirmary To provide a safer orthopaedic and trauma service with geriatric support To meet national requirements and adhere to NICE/BOA/NHFD guidelines To help support and mentor our junior workforce To support bed pressures, perioperative care and patient experience To reduce theatre delays, morbidity and mortality for hip and femur fracture patients and improve their post-operative outcomes To support the reduction in length of stay in hospital To change the culture of just treating the hip/femur/fragility fracture to making provision for personalised and holistic care packages for these frail elderly population. To support the current work to re-establish FY1 and FY2 HENE trainee
