POSITION SUMMARY:

The Outpatient Coordinator/Scheduler works under the supervision of the Clinic Administrator and clinic leadership. This position will perform coordinator, registration, scheduling, authorizations, and clerical duties, as designated. The primary purpose of this position is to carry out all assignments given relative to the safe and efficient operation of the Clinic and the care of Clinic patients and in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern the facility and Medical Assistants, and the operational policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications, Education, and Experience

  • Must be able to work normal/scheduled working hours to include Holidays, call-backs, weeknights, weekends, and on-call. Agrees to participate, as directed, in emergencies and community disasters during scheduled and unscheduled hours. As a designated disaster service worker you are required to assist in times of need pursuant to the California Emergency Services Act.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be a high school graduate or equivalent and should have, as a minimum, one (1) year of experience as a Medical Assistant.
  • Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age-related needs of the patients served. Must be knowledgeable of medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to Clinics. Must possess leadership and supervisory ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with Clinic staff assisting in the care of patients. Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, patients, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
  • Must be able to use Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, as well as web-based database programs and the Internet
  • Must have and maintain current BLS certification or obtain within orientation process, prior to hands-on patient care. As a minimum, certification as a Back Office (Clinical) Medical Assistant. Blood Draw training is highly preferred.
