Description:

The postholder will be part of a small, supportive team, as part of which you will provide support to the Outreach and Communications Officer with outreach, events, communications and general administration. This role requires the successful candidate to be available to work flexibly, including outside of normal office hours and at weekends on occasion.
The postholder be responsible for contributing to the implementation and evaluation of the Earth Sciences outreach strategy, alongside the Outreach and Communications Manager. They will coordinate and support the department’s contribution to pan-university activities such as open days, UNIQ summer schools, Oxplore Festival and other similar events. They will also contribute to the implementation of the department’s communication strategy, including planning and scheduling content distribution and uploading content to the department’s website, and/or social media feeds, and will develop and evaluate communications activities through a range of tools such as online surveys, feedback forms and digital analytics. The postholder will also act as a primary contact for alumni CRM system, running queries and reports on the DARS system, and updating details when required and carry out day to day administrative tasks for meetings, including room bookings, catering etc. The postholder will oversee the organisation and delivery of the Earth Sciences alumni dinner.
You must be educated to A Level standard or have experience of studying for a higher-level qualification, such as a degree, have experience of working in an outreach/communications related administrative role, have experience of a fast moving and demanding environment, and awareness of Data Protection and information security guidelines . You will have good IT skills, particularly the use of Microsoft Office and the ability to prioritise workload and produce accurate, detailed work within deadlines.

The post is part time (22 hours per week), and is fixed term for 12 months to cover a period of maternity leave, and is based at the Department of Earth Sciences, South Parks Road, Oxford.
