We are seeking to recruit an efficient support officer to support the growth of our in-house counselling offer for schools. The role will involve providing administrative support to the counselling and restorative approaches (RA) teams within the Educational Psychology & Wellbeing Service (EP&WS).
The counselling service consists of British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) registered counsellors who offer a traded service to schools and post-16 settings, providing counselling support to children and young people (CYP), parents and school staff. Counsellors offer CYP a safe and supportive environment where, through talking and creative work, they are given the opportunity to be heard and to express their feelings without harm. It helps them to share any worries or problems they may have and to build their confidence, self-esteem and develop resilience.
The RA service offers support to schools in repairing the harm to relationships caused by conflict. Schools are able to buy-in a range of services, including accredited RA training, direct support for individuals following conflict, bespoke advice and guidance on how to use RA as a tool to develop and maintain healthy relationships within a school community and support to develop and implement anti-bullying initiatives.
We are looking for someone with excellent administrative skills who enjoys working in a busy and highly confidential working environment. The ideal postholder will be eager to learn, and driven and self-motivated to deliver high quality work for a truly unique and exciting London borough.
You will be based in The Woolwich Centre in the heart of the borough, with excellent transport links including the Elizabeth Line.
If you have the following skills and experience we would like to hear from you:
- Experience of working in a busy office in a business or educational environment, with complex and fast paced demands.
- Highly developed communication and organisational skills.
- Strong IT skills.
- Ability to work to strict deadlines
- Ability to work in a highly confidential setting.
- The ability to work flexibly as part of an established team or to work using your own initiative.
You should be prepared to travel to schools and other organisations within/outside the Borough.
