Description:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

The ideal candidate for this position is adept at tracking, supporting, and executing multiple projects. They demonstrate effective communication with different groups/individuals, strategic time management, and sound judgement.
The Outreach Instructional Specialist (Specialist, APW) is expected to work both independently and collaboratively toward set Arizona Project WET objectives.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS

Lifting up to 25lbs.
Working in an outdoor environment, in various weather conditions. Candidate may be required to work in extreme heat during certain times of the year.
The ability to lift and move equipment for programs will be required on a regular basis.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through experience required.
  • 1 year of relevant work experience required.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy. The incumbent must possess transportation and current vehicle insurance at time of employment. Occasionally the position requires driving a motor pool vehicle while pulling a cargo trailer.
  • As an employee of the U of A; all employees must complete a background check.

Responsibilities:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure that program objectives and outcomes are met in accordance with established priorities, timeframes, SOP’s, and other specifications.
  • Utilize Microsoft O365 software to enhance the organization, accessibility, and transparency of materials across the team. Capture participation data for reporting.

This position reports to the Director of (APW) and is a participating member of the dynamic, cooperative, statewide APW team. This position is posted in Tucson (Pima County) but supports/delivers out-of-county programming – necessitating intermittent state-wide travel throughout the year.

  • Carry out the goals of Arizona Project WET by supporting the daily operations and coordination of all APW educational engagement including, but not limited to, Arizona Water Festivals.
  • Assist with marketing, scheduling, and delivery of APW programming. Prepare materials and maintain supplies, ensure timely set-up and breakdown for events and presentations, and anticipate program needs.
  • Remain flexible while following SOP’s.
  • Support and sustain a culture of Integrity,
  • Connect, collaborate, and maintain relationships with community partners, K-12 personnel and governmental, academic, and corporate volunteers, to promote UA water education initiatives and APW programs.
  • Develop, compile, and inform communications and promotional literature for distribution such as newsletters, brochures, or flyers, coordinating the process from development through distribution.
  • Enthusiastically deliver APW programming with exceptional skill: meaningfully connect content to participant and participant to action, ensuring attainment of measurable outcomes.
  • Build rapport with students, teachers, AmeriCorps Members, and the APW team to deliver quality programming, ensuring expectations are met or exceeded.

Members of the APW Team are expected to offer/provide technical advice, insights into best practices, creative problem-solving, and reflection on performance. The Specialist is a collaborative colleague, supporting the whole team: Volunteers, AmeriCorps Members, other APW Outreach Specialists, APW Coordinators, and Program Manager
