Description:

Manage the financial aspects of the private and overseas patients’ services; ensuring income due to the Trust is recovered in accordance with Department of Health and Social Care regulations.
Provide specialist expertise to resolve queries and deal with information gathered by various agencies e.g. Border Agency, Home Office, Embassies.
Responsible for ensuring interviews are undertaken with all patients identified as potentially ineligible for free NHS Treatment, using DHSC regulations to ensure the correct evidence is received from the patient.
Manage the upload of patient EHIC details to the DHSC portal ensuring the NHS is reimbursed for treatment costs and obtains its financial incentive payments.
Ensure invoices are raised promptly for private patient treatments liaising with internal departments to identify patient attendances and using latest private patient tariffs.
Respond to Freedom of Information requests in relation to private and overseas patient charges. Act as a resource on regulations and best practice regarding Overseas patients and entitlement.
Take the lead on complex cases where patients, who are not eligible for any of the payment options, need additional support and advice.
Assist in patient repatriations from the UK, liaising with clinical staff and next of kin where necessary
Overseas Visitors
Be the main point of contact within the Trust for enquiries relating to overseas patient identification and determination of chargeable status
Establish whether patients are chargeable or are exempt under the National Health Service (Charges to Overseas Visitors) Charging Regulations 2015, as amended.
Where charges apply, ensure invoices are raised and costs recovered.
Undertake frontline interviews with patients to determine eligibility to free NHS treatment
Record all data relating to overseas patients, including those identified as exempt from charges for performance reporting
Provide data for statutory returns to financial timelines
Respond to freedom of information requests in respect of overseas patient charges Private Patients
Provide finance support for the recovery of costs relating to private patient treatment.
Liaise with all departments in the identification and information gathering of private patient treatments to ensure prompt and accurate billing.
