Responsibilities:

ROLE PURPOSE

Due to an internal promotion, Aesop are seeking a dynamic and driven Packaging Developer – Fragrance with proven experience to join us for 12 months operating with a hybrid working pattern, based at our global head office in Collingwood.
Reporting to the Packaging Development Manager, you will be responsible for designing and developing distinctive packaging solutions within the Fragrance Category. This role is essential for delivering the technical and creative aspects required to meet Aesop’s product and growth ambitions.
Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will leverage their specialised knowledge to create effective and visually appealing packaging that aligns with Aesop’s commitment to sustainability. As an integral part of the Packaging team, this role involves not only continuous collaboration with key suppliers globally but also ensuring the swift execution of packaging development projects.
Utilising advanced packaging technologies and materials, this role will support Aesop’s commercial and sustainability objectives. This position is crucial for ensuring that all fragrance packaging projects are completed with creativity, precision and in a timely manner, directly contributing to Aesop’s sustained success in the market. Strong communication, attention to detail and excellence in execution are key to this roles’ success.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (NOT LIMITED TO)

  • Lead the design and development of fragrance packaging in line with Aesop’s aesthetics working collaboratively with the wider cross-functional team (Product Category, Development, Supply Chain, Creative and Regulatory) to ensure the timely development of product packaging.
  • Develop projects with a strong sustainability focus, ensuring clear communication of environmental credentials as a central aspect to packaging selection.
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings with Category Managers and form strong relationships with Creative to gain insight into their packaging preferences and ensure that packaging aligns with overall product and branding strategies.
  • Work cross-functionally with production, R&D, Compliance, QC, and Product teams to establish and execute plans for research, manufacturing, design, validation and transport testing with strong emphasis on packaging optimisation for the manufacturing process.
  • Select appropriate packaging materials and conduct testing to ensure they comply with quality and all relevant regulations related to safety, environmental impact, and labelling.
  • Manage delivery of all allocated/assigned fragrance packaging development projects including clear communication of requirements for cross-functional teams (R&D, Product, Supply Chain).
  • Be a trusted conduit for Packaging issues elevated/raised and provide regular overview/summary of the status of project milestones across all developments to Packaging Development Manager.
  • Stay informed about the most recent developments in Fragrance, leveraging advancements in materials technologies and packaging innovations to drive the implementation of refill solutions.
  • Support manufacturing partners to resolve issues during design transfer and transition to mass production. Identify opportunities for process improvement if any.
  • Lead or participate in troubleshooting, root cause analysis and finding solutions to complex packaging problems.
