A bit about the role…
As Costa continues to grow our food and beverage offerings across our platforms and markets, we are growing our packaging team. You will be responsible for delivering EPD & NPD projects ensuring Costa packaging is functional, food safe and compliant with regulatory requirements. Development and continuous improvement of processes, procedures and technical standards will be a critical part of the role to ensuring global consistency of packaging, brand standards and sustainability requirements. You will leverage your understanding of packaging materials, and technologies to ensure Costa packaging has consistent quality and operational performance, and excites our consumers, and customers and drive growth for Costa.

Responsibilities:

  • Support compliance with the Coca-Cola Governance for Growth programme.
  • Support the development of Coca-Cola Picasso specification for Costa.
  • Manage & maintain the approval of packaging specifications across all formats and regions ensuring legal compliance.
  • Support the auditing of packaging suppliers and maintain a supplier risk register to ensure suppliers are meeting the Costa standards.
  • Responsible for ensuring suppliers deliver consistent products to the agreed specification throughout the product life cycle.
  • Develop Packaging Standards for Costa.
  • Develop Packaging testing protocols and procedures. Test packaging to ensure it is fit for purpose for operations, food & consumer safety and commercial point of view.
  • Collaboration with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and specify fit-for-purpose packaging that meets food & consumer safety, sustainability, brand and quality standards/requirements
  • Build and maintain relationships with the Coca-Cola network, suppliers, and external agencies to maintain the latest knowledge in packaging material developments, sustainability, regulatory environment and best-in-class procures and testing protocols. Horizon scanning to forecast packaging regulatory risks to support the maintenance of an up-to-date packaging risk register for the business
  • Provide the business with troubleshooting as and when required.

  • A strong awareness of packaging regulations.
  • Experience in food contact and recycled plastics regulations would be essential
  • Knowledge of working with paper cups, plastics and multilayer pouches or similar packaging types would be desirable.
  • Experience in packaging technologies, design for manufacture, testing/validation, component tooling, and print processes.
  • Knowledge and operation of BRC, ISO, HACCP and/or other quality management systems is essential
