Description:
The Paediatric Emergency Department is looking for a junior sister/charge nurse to join a friendly, dynamic and comprehensive team.
You will be responsible for leading a team of nurses under the supervision of the Senior Ward Sister/Charge Nurse and to lead the shifts in the absence of the Senior Ward Sister/Charge Nurse.
Responsible for the assessment of care needs on a wide range of different paediatric conditions that present to the Emergency Department.
On a shift-by-shift basis, co-ordinate and monitor the progress of patients along their critical pathway, reporting any variance from the pathway.
Have the ability to co-ordinate a shift as the nurse in charge being responsible for managing a team and ensuring patients receive safe care.
Take named responsibility for co-ordinating individual patient’s discharge From the Emergency Department.
Ensure that all nursing practice within the clinical area complies with Trust Nursing policies and procedures.
To comply at all times with the NMC Code of Conduct.

To support the ED Sister/Charge Nurse in leading the nursing team, ensuring that high standards are met and maintained for all children and their families.
To support the ED Sister/Charge Nurse ensuring the departments ethos reflects the Trust values, and assist with the delivery of patient safety, a good patient experience and the effective running of the department.
To act as a skilled practitioner and senior nurse within the Emergency Department to ensure that the highest quality of care is given to patients.
Ensuring that all clinical practice is evidence based, in accordance with local and national standards for good practice.
To assist in the clinical management of the Emergency Department by ensuring the efficient and effective use of resources, and providing clinical leadership, supervision and support to the team.
In conjunction with the Clinical Matrons / Team Leaders and other Sisters / Charge Nurses facilitate the development of the service and personal development of all nursing staff within the clinical area of responsibility.
