Description:
The Children’s Ward at Queen Mary’s Hospital for Children is an acute, a 17 bedded ward caring for a range of children (0-16 years) with a variety of conditions including medical, child and adolescent mental health, surgical and orthopaedic conditions. They offer opportunities to develop skills in tracheostomy management, respiratory support with Optiflow, CVADs and blood transfusions to name just a few. The post holder maybe required to cross cover to our Paediatric Assessment Unit at Queen Mary’s Hospital for Children. The Paediatric Assessment Unit is a 5 bedded dedicated paediatric unit caring for children young people and their families undergoing medical day investigations/treatments as well as children requiring short stay assessment from the Paediatric emergency department. The unit is currently open Monday – Fridays 07:30-20:00.
We also work very closely with our Paediatric Emergency Department at St Helier with operates a 24 hour service. The post holder may be required to cross cover at times.
To provide child centred, evidence based, high quality care to children and their families in the acute paediatric ward setting.
To implement and evaluate family centred care and to be responsible for the delivery of care and assessment, development and evaluations of individual programmes of care
To take delegated responsibility for children working as part of a team to ensure care delivered is to a high standard
To be responsible for mentoring pre-registration students
