Description:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic Band 7 Occupational Therapist to join the multi-disciplinary team to support Children and Young People recovering from Illness and/or living with long term conditions. The post will sit within a Multi disciplinary team and operationally and professionally managed via Paediatric Swansea Bay Occupational Therapy Team in Swansea Bay UHB. This post will cover Swansea bay foot print.
The post will allow the successful applicant the opportunity to work collaboratively within an integrated multi-disciplinary team. You will provide specialist assessment, goal directed intervention and rehabilitation to support CYP and their families following a period of illnesses and those living with long term conditions. The successful candidates will also support in the development of a new service and evaluation the service model and patient outcomes.
The role will be responsible for the management and development of the service as well as maintaining a clinical caseload. A commitment to collaborative working with the Multi-Disciplinary Team is essential. We actively support the education of Occupational Therapy staff and students within our service.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication and clinical skills, along with experience of service development and quality improvement.
To manage a defined caseload within specialist area, using evidence based /client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate the outcomes of intervention where appropriate; hospital, community, patients’ homes, schools, outpatient settings and maintaining associated records. To organise this efficiently and effectively with regard to clinical priorities and use of time.
To ensure clinical records are kept to agreed standards and report accurately to others.
To work in partnership with clients, carers and all stake holders including the multidisciplinary/ multi agency team to identify relevant goals.
To provide leadership and supervision for junior staff.
To regularly supervise Occupational Therapy students on practice placements.
To participate in CPD and develop skills and knowledge through participation in developmental activities.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
