In line with the National Recruitment Programme, we are keen to hear from House Officers and Senior House Officers looking for a new opportunity commencing January 2025 through to January 2026 as Paediatric Senior House Officers.

Responsibilities:
The Paediatric Department offers eight Paediatric Senior House Officer positions. These roles are intended for those with little or no Paediatric experience. The role is accredited for Basic training in Paediatrics by the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. SHO’s work day shifts, evening shifts, long days, weekends, and night shifts. Senior House Officers are on duty with a Registrar at all times.
The Paediatric Department is a busy supportive department of 15 SMO’s and 2 Fellows on the consultant roster, and 8 Registrar’s on the Registrar roster.(Please see separate advertisement if interested in a Registrar role). The role provides an excellent opportunity to gain first-hand experience in managing a wide range of acute and elective Paediatric presentations, in both General Paediatrics and Neonatology. We have a 22 bed General Paediatric ward, a 4 bed daystay unit, and a 12 bed level 2 Neonatal Unit. The role would suit candidates looking to start a career in Paediatrics, as well as those interested in gaining Paediatric experience relevant to General Practice or Emergency Medicine.
All positions are based at Tauranga Hospital and the run period is for six or 12 months, with six months often providing enough experience to begin work as a Paediatric Registrar.
