SUMMARY
You will serve as a PAINTER in the DEPARTMENT OF THE NAVY to include work sites of Pearl Harbor naval Shipyard, Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, and Trident Refit Facility Bangor.

Responsibilities:
- You will support the overhaul and repair of U.S. Naval vessels through surface preparation and application of high performance preservation coating, for nuclear and non-nuclear naval vessels and equipment.
- You will enhance the structural integrity of the vessel, significantly reducing system failures or the need for ship repair and maintenance.
- You will use drawings, specifications, technical manuals, engineering standards, and manufactures’ instructions to identify the location and assemble blast equipment in dry-docks, piers and on vessels.
- You will ascertain type and method for surface preparation, considering variables such as current surface profile; surface profile requirements; intended coating application; cleanliness; tolerances; and metal loss.
- You will use hand or mechanical means, such as, scaling, sanding, scraping, chemical removal, and washing of metal, wood, and plastic surfaces for additional preparation to obtain required profiles.
- You will use deck blast machines to remove coatings and oxide from decks of ships.
- You will apply prior knowledge of materials for application on various surfaces including critical coated areas.
