Description:

POSITION OVERVIEW

The City of North Vancouver is the urban core of the beautiful North Shore and has a long-term vision to be “The Healthiest Small City in the World”, with five key priorities to be a City for People, a Resilient City, a Vibrant City, a Connected City and a Prosperous City.
We are looking for an exempt regular full time Paralegal/Administrative Assistant.

REQUIREMENTS

You will have completed a paralegal diploma program, with sound related experience in conveyancing procedures, or an equivalent combination of training and experience, including relevant office administration skills and experience. Experience as a Designated Paralegal would be an asset. You must be detail-orientated, proactive and have the ability to multi-task as well as build and maintain strong working relationships by working collaboratively in a team setting. Considerable independent judgement is exercised in preparing documents although unusual and policy matters are referred to a supervising lawyer.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the City Solicitor, you will be responsible for preparing and processing a variety of legal documentation for routine and complex land transactions such as major mixed-use high rises, phased developments, airspace and strata subdivisions, heritage agreements, and other forms of urban land development. You will be required to conduct Land Title Office, Corporate Registry and BC Assessment searches and be experienced in land title forms and filing procedures, as well as independently draft, compile, review and process a variety of documents, usually under considerable time constraints. You will provide information and guidance to external contacts and staff from other departments on matters relating to conveyancing procedures, documentation and contract language.
