Description:

JOB DESCRIPTION

Our client is an ICT (information and communication technology) that provides tailored solutions to each company’s corporate strategy, and plans, develops, maintains, and operates business systems. We are looking for a Paralegal/Legal Executive based in Singapore, to support the Legal and Compliance for the Group’s multiple businesses in Singapore and the APAC Region, mainly the South Asia Region.
The role supports and interacts with stakeholders across the organization, including significant work with the Legal & Compliance Department at our parent company in Japan, Regional-level Management, and colleagues in business divisions. The successful candidate must be enthusiastic about legal and compliance-related work, solutions-oriented, a team player and be continually willing to learn and adapt.

【 What you will be doing 】
Legal
1. Provide advice, negotiate, draft and review a wide range of diverse contractual agreements.
2. Correspond with business units for all types of contractual requirements, legal advice, sensitizing on legal risks, implications of new laws and process requirements (where necessary).
3. Keep abreast of local and regional legal developments and conduct research to deliver well-informed legal opinions and advice.
Compliance
1. Supporting legal and regulatory compliance matters.
2. Support and keep track of regulatory requirements and changes including competition/anti-trust laws, anti-bribery laws, environmental health & safety, data privacy etc.
3. Draft, review and maintain compliance-related documents, such as company regulations and policies.
4. Contribute to and support the conduct of annual Legal & Compliance Training (on-site or online via MS TEAMS) by creating and providing training to staff of Group Companies in South Asia on topics such as Ethics, Code of Conduct & Internal Policies, Rules; Anti-Trust/Competition Laws, Anti-Bribery Laws, Data Privacy Laws, Economic Sanctions etc.
Others
1. Liaise with external law firms in Singapore and in the APAC Region when necessary.
2. To perform ad hoc duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENT

【 What they are looking for 】

(Must)

  • Diploma in Legal Studies
  • 2 years post qualification experience (in-house legal executive or through a reputable law firm)
  • Experienced Paralegal will be considered for the role
  • Outstanding communication skills in English are required.
  • Good understanding of Contract law and experience in contract drafting and review.
  • Capable of working independently with minimal support.
  • Excellent computer skills for MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and Access for Windows PCs).

(Preferred)

  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB)
  • License to practice law is an advantage, but not a necessity
  • Prior experience in the shipping industry or reputable law firms or relevant experience in maritime, shipping law will be an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of Anti-Trust/Competition Laws will be strongly regarded
  • Experience in managing the South Asian Region and Japan is preferred
