Description:

The Student Recruitment and Access Development Teams work collaboratively with partner organisations to provide an authentic, supportive, and inclusive experience to students and their influencers at each point of their journey to Higher Education. To support this activity we rely on parent ambassadors to provide an authentic insight into their experiences of their dependent(s) studying in higher education.

You will:

  • Speak informally to parents at events such as Open Days, School and College Open Evenings
  • Share personal experience of child/ children in HE with other parents
  • Promote the benefits of HE among parents and carers of prospective students
  • Provide facts and dispel myths; improve perceptions and attitudes among carers towards progression routes and pathways into HE
  • Increase the knowledge among parents and carers of the different progression routes and pathways into HE
  • Participate in talks and videos where appropriate, in promoting to parents and prospective students

All roles require you to speak about your own personal experiences and you are therefore not expected to know in-depth information about subjects such as entry requirements, accommodation or finance.
You will have current or recent experience of supporting a child through HE, the ability to communicate clearly to a large number of people, have a passion about education and the benefits of HE.
