Description:

The Christchurch City Council parks team is growing in a new and exciting direction. We want you to be part of our dedicated team.
Our goal is to lift and enhance the quality of these beautiful areas - You’ll combine your mowing, spraying and horticultural experience that will deliver a high-quality finish to the Parks and Cemeteries throughout our city.
Working in these spaces you will be exposed to a wide range of people, cultures and beliefs that are represented within Christchurch. An openminded, respectful outlook will be key.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • Hours of work: 7:30am - 3:30pm Monday - Friday. There is also a requirement to work weekend and public holidays on a rostered basis.
  • Location - These roles will be based at one of our new Depot’s based in Wigram or Bromley
  • Salary - The salary band for this position goes from $58,754 - $65,586 per annum. Starting salaries will be based on knowledge, skills and experience the successful candidate brings to the role, and relativities both, within the immediate team and in the broader organisation for the same or similar roles.

Responsibilities:

REQUIREMENTS OF THE ROLE:

  • You’ll be a committed team player who is always looking for ways to learn, grow and improve.
  • You will be ensuring all aspects of our parks such as turf, gardens and all associated furnishings are maintained to the highest standard.
  • You will have a full driver’s license, level 4 National Certificate in Horticulture or equivalent, or extensive experience in similar role.
  • A Grow Safe qualification, class two truck licence and W endorsement would be highly desirable but not essential. CCC will help you gain these qualifications if you do not have them.
    Shortlisted candidates need to be available for an Assessment Centre/Bulk Interview on Friday 12th July 2024, at Risingholme Park - Opawa. Times TBC (this will be communicated closer to the time)

Your duties will include,

  • Mowing, hand and ride on.
  • Line trimming.
  • Spraying.
  • Weeding.
  • Pruning.
  • Planting.
  • Cleaning BBQs and Water fountains.
  • Rubbish collection
