Description:

JOB SUMMARY

  • Assists in offering human-centered design research for the Community Health Partnerships Program (CHeP) of the Indiana Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute through the Patient Engagement Core (Research Jam).
  • Works with supervision as a part of the Research Jam team to develop patient-informed recommendations for scientific studies at Indiana University using human-centered design or similar qualitative research techniques.
  • Assists in human-centered design research and strategy to integrate a community and patient-centered process into research study communication design, implementation, and planning, at all times focusing on the community and patient’s perspective.
  • Works with research teams to publish results of findings and to submit grant proposals to pursue insights garnered through incumbent’s work and findings.
  • Assists with research interviews, workbook creation, ethnography, modified focus groups and other methods of data collection as directed by objectives determined by lead team members.
  • Under the direction of the design research specialists, works with the team to develop tailored research methods and tools for stakeholder meetings specific to the audience, and research project needs and context.
  • Facilitates interactive qualitative sessions with project stakeholders (including patients and community members) utilizing best practices in human-centered design research such as rapid prototyping, scenario testing, modeling, role playing, user testing, etc. as appropriate.
  • Assists with analysis of textual and visual data to inform detailed reports, develop artifacts and strategies after incorporating results from qualitative analysis and using human-centered design analysis techniques such as “pattern-finding” and coding/theming to create production-ready tools for faculty to implement.
  • Supports an iterative design process by responding to feedback from senior designers, principal investigators and patients throughout.
  • Collaborates with the team regarding development and revision of study design and study acceptability, recruitment strategies, survey tools and other measurement methodologies/tools to best incorporate a patient-centered approach.
  • Assists with preparing results for presentation in written or oral format for conferences, workshops, or public dissemination.
  • Participates in writing of formal manuscripts, informal and preparing reports.
