Description:

You’ll be interested in this excellent opportunity with Robert Half if you’re interested in working as a Part Time Full Charge Bookkeeper. Are you proficient at multitasking, communicating, organizing, and managing your time? Then this role could be the right fit for you! Your responsibilities will include the preparation of financial statements; the establishment and preservation of the accounting principles, practices, procedures, and initiatives of the business; and all other general accounting and bookkeeping tasks. The long-term contract / temporary to hire Part Time Full Charge Bookkeeper will work in Garden City, New York.

Key responsibilities

  • Performing accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including collections
  • Completing monthly, quarterly, and year end close, on time and in an accurate manner
  • Carefully filing documents to preserve historical records
  • Managing accounting clerks and entry-level bookkeepers
  • Putting together the trial balance and financial statements, including balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement
  • Maintaining adherence to federal, state, and local legal requirements by keeping up to date on them, filing reports, and advising management on needed actions
  • Tracking fixed assets and constructing depreciation schedules
  • Handling reconciliations for bank and general ledgers, and processing payroll
  • 3+ years of bookkeeping experience
  • Month end closings experience required
  • Job Cost experience
  • Solid understanding of QuickBooks
  • Proven flexibility to adapt to changes in procedures and job assignments
  • A thorough knowledge of accrual and cash basis of accounting
  • Excel experience desired
  • Strong organization skills with a sense of urgency and capable of prioritizing multiple tasks
  • High school diploma or similar certification with an AA degree or higher in Accounting or Business recommended
  • Ability to multitask, collaborate and communicate well with individuals of all backgrounds in a fast-paced environment
  • Can work independently with minimal supervision
  • Proficient at analyzing financial data and promptly creating accurate reports
