Description:
JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Frost Entomological Museum is seeking a Student Museum Assistant for the Summer of 2024. The successful student will work with museum staff and contribute to the digitization of pollinator specimens in the family Syrphidae. This may include:
- Imaging museum specimens
- Rehousing specimens as needed to secure them against environmental damage
- Learning new database software
- Transcription of specimen labels and collecting data
- Georeferencing collection site localities
This position will also include helping develop an exhibit on Syrphidae to be fabricated and installed in the public space of the museum. Attention to detail, extreme care in handling small fragile objects, and strong communication skills are essential. This is a 7-week, 40 hours per week position. Interest in entomology or museum studies is desired.
