Description:
Under the direction of the ICT-Cloud and Infrastructure Team Lead the Technical Analyst – Systems and Infrastructure position is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware, virtual environments, and related infrastructure. As well, provides support for Azure and Office 365 Cloud services, Active Directory, networking, and security.
Key Accountabilities:

Infrastructure Systems Administration

  • Administration of virtual server infrastructure (VMWare VSphere, Azure) including installation, configuration, and maintenance
  • Administration and monitoring of system backups (Qorestor, VRanger, Carbonite)
  • Apply system patches and upgrades on a regular basis and upgrade administrative tools and utilities.
  • Monitors, measures and reports on infrastructure load, performance and security events. Identifies operational issues and contributes to their resolution.
  • Provides technical expertise to enable the correct application of operational procedures.
  • Contributes to the planning and implementation of infrastructure maintenance and updates. Implements agreed infrastructure changes and maintenance routines.

Active Directory and Azure AD, Networking, and Security Support

  • Modify group membership to ensure secure access to resources for users.
  • Maintenance of email resources such as mailboxes, distribution groups and related services
  • Office 365 administration – Conditional Access Rules, MFA issues, Security settings, Exchange
  • Investigates suspected security incidents
  • Applies and maintains specific security controls as required by policy and risk assessments
  • Network administration and support based on standard operating procedures.
  • Windows Server and Active Directory services troubleshooting
  • Physical installation of hardware at HWCDSB supported data centre(s)
  • Technical guidance and escalated support services to ICT staff
  • Deal with vendors on a regular basis to resolve technical issues.

Technical Documentation

  • Prepare documentation of standard operating procedures.
  • Prepare technical documentation of implemented systems.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed tickets/logs to document work that has been done and work that is ongoing as a means of providing resources for work management and future troubleshooting.

Additional Requirements:

  • Physical effort to install/uninstall data centre server hardware
  • Cell phone is required (stipend for texting services is provided)
  • May require responding to urgent matters outside of the normal work hours. As well, may require scheduling work outside of normal work hours.
  • Must have own reliable transportation (This position must travel to an offsite data centre on a regular basis and be willing to transport equipment to this site in their personal vehicle -equipment to be no larger than what fits in a typical vehicle trunk).

Qualifications:

  • 3 Year Advance College Computer Sciences diploma;
  • 5 years’ experience in related field;
  • Experience in school board environment;
  • Proven interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Maturity in dealing with confidential information
