Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE

This role provides pastoral care, leadership and support to clients, their families, team members and pastoral care volunteers.
The Pastoral Care Coordinator supports clients by visiting them in their own home across Western Sydney. The role requires access to a car (mileage reimbursed) and is Permanent Part-time working 4 days per week (30.4 hours pw). When not visiting clients, the position is based at Penrith.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assessing client/family’s spiritual and emotional needs and developing a spiritual care plan, to ensure their spiritual needs are acknowledged and documented
  • Providing spiritual and emotional support to clients and their families
  • Contributing as appropriate to carer support groups and other faith supporting activities
  • Liaising with relevant religious/spiritual leaders to coordinate provision of spiritual support to clients and their families where appropriate
  • Providing prayerful spiritual/emotional support to team members, and distribute relevant material, articles and books as appropriate
  • Training team member in areas related to pastoral care, including boundaries, grief and loss, faith and hope, and other areas as identified in conjunction with key stakeholders
  • Working with team members to extend their skills in meeting the spiritual needs of clients, including identifying suitable learning and development resources.
  • Participating in opportunities such as staff meetings, in-services, expos, and other events with the purpose of providing information about pastoral care opportunities and creating partnerships.
  • Regularly meeting with local service managers and team members for the purpose of receiving feedback, identifying need, and reporting back on any changes or developments in the Pastoral Care service.
