If so, the Pathology department are looking to recruit an experienced Quality Manager to be responsible for the pathology quality management system at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust (MTW). You must have excellent communication skills, a keen eye for detail, be adaptable, flexible, and innovative. You must have the ability to work on your own as well as within a team and be highly motivated to deliver excellence.
The post-holder will be responsible for the maintenance of the unified pathology quality management system which meets the standards set by ISO 15189 & 17043 , MHRA and HTA. You will need to provide expert advice, support and leadership in quality management issues throughout Pathology and in other parts of the Trust as required.
Pathology services at MTW are within the Kent and Medway Pathology Network (South 8) and are in discussion regarding transforming pathology services for the future.
The Quality Manager is charged with the design, implementation and management of the Pathology (ISO15189) and Histology EQA (ISO 17043) Quality Systems and quality improvement cycles.
The post holder should ensure, on behalf of laboratory and scheme management, that there is an integrated approach to Quality Management and that the quality management system functions correctly.
The post holder will coordinate and implement a continuing audit programme to monitor the effectiveness of the service and implemented changes.
Around 95% of clinical pathways rely on patients having access to efficient, timely and cost effective pathology services. Pathology touches all of our lives, from before we are born to, in many cases, after we die. We help diagnose our illnesses, screen for congenital diseases, cancer and other conditions and monitor the progress of disease and manage our therapies. We the pathology department at MTW consists of laboratories, phlebotomy and point of care services on two acute hospital sites processing over 5 million tests each year.
Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust is a large acute hospital Trust in the county of Kent.
The Trust provides a full range of general hospital services and some areas of specialist complex care to around 760,000 people living in the south part of West Kent and the north part of East Sussex.
The Trust’s core catchment areas are Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells and their surrounding boroughs. We work from two main clinical sites: Maidstone Hospital and Tunbridge Wells Hospital at Pembury. Tunbridge Wells Hospital opened in 2011 and provides single rooms with en-suites for all in-patients – the first of its kind in the country.
